The winner and second were first and second rated!

Jaytee Jet, drawn wide, was the uneasy favourite at 15/8 after good support for the inside drawn Lenson Rocky and Droopys Roddick. However, it was Hiya Butt who broke fastest to lead on the run up and around the first bend from Jaytee Jet, Peregrine Falcon, Lenson Rocky, Droopys Roddick and Cloran Paddy. Approaching the first bend there was bumping and crowding behind the leader, leaving Jaytee Jet to mount his challenge on the outside from Lenson and Roddick. Hiya maintained his lead until the run in when sustained challenges were made by Droopys Roddick, Lenson Rocky and the fast finishing Jaytee Jet. At the line it was Jaytee who got up by a neck from Droopys Roddick, with Hiya Butt just a short head back in third, Lenson a length behind in fourth, a gap of 2 1/2 lengths to Cloran Paddy, with just a neck to Peregrine Falcon in last place.

First Semi-Final

The inside draw favoured Lenson Rocky and he utilised it to the full by pinging the traps to share the early lead with Peregrine Falcon, closely followed by Southfield Jock. In behind there was bumping on the wide outside, with Blue Cafu suffering the most. Around the first bend Lenson took sole lead from Peregrine with Southfield and Cloran Paddy two lengths back. Lenson maintained his lead around the second and third bends, running on strongly to win by 3 lengths in 28.13 at 11/4 joint favourite. Peregrine Falcom was second in 28.37 at 7/1, beating Cloran Paddy (7/1) by 2 lengths, Southfield Jock (7/2) just a head behind in fourth, 3 3/4 lengths to Bubbly Turbo (11/4 jf) and 3 lengths to Blue Cafu (16/1).

Second Semi-Final

In a strong betting heat outside boxed Jaytee Jet was made the 15/8 favourite, but as the traps lifted it was inside drawn Hiya Butt who reacted first to lead from Shaneboy Freddie and Droopys Roddick. Around the first bend Hiya hugged the rails from Droopys, Ballymac Brogan and Southfield Jock, with Jaytee making ground on the outside. Hiya maintained the lead until rounding the final bend, where Droopys took it up and won by 3/4 length in 28.38, rewarding his supporters at 4/1, from Jaytee Jet in 28.43 two lengths in front of Hiya Butt (9/4), 3/4 length to Southfield Jock (7/2), a head to Ballymac Brogan (11/1) and 3/4 length in rear was Jaytee Dutch (10/1).

FIRST QUARTER FINAL

Lenson Rocky went off the 15/8 favourite and pinged the traps along with Jaytee Dutch. A good battle ensued between the two, with Jaytee leading around the first two bends, followed by Lenson and Cloran Paddy, who hugged the rails. Ajlo Legalbeagle and Boyneside Fun were taken wide, crowding with Ballymac Darragh at the third bend. Lenson Rocky took up the running after the second bend, maintaining the lead until just before the line when pipped by a short head by the fast finishing Cloran Paddy in 28.02, with Jaytee Dutch a further 2 1/4 lengths back in third.

SECOND QUARTER FINAL

Southfield Jock was made the 7/4 favourite and never looked in danger, leading from the boxes, hugging the rail and making all to win by 1 1/2 lengths in 28.24. Blue Cafu and Shaneboy Freddie had a battle for the rails behind Shaneboy, while there was bumping at the first bend on the outside, Stay Lucky suffering the most. At the line Shaneboy Freddie claimed second place, a comfortable 5 3/4 lengths in front of Blue Cafu who claimed the final qualification spot.

THIRD QUARTER FINAL

Although Jaytee Jet was berthed in the favourable outside box and made the 5/4 favourite, Hiya Butt on the rails broke spectacularly well in 4.67 and led around the first from the favourite, with Be Up Front, Peregrine Falcon, Droopys Latina and Impress Express behind. A good battle up front as Hiya maintained a length lead to the line, with Jaytee seeing off the challenge of Peregrine Falcon by 2 lengths. Be Up Front failed by a head to qualify, while Droopys Latina, a short head behind, was disqualified.

FOURTH QUARTER FINAL

Lenson Sanchez, enjoying an inside draw, was the uneasy 11/4 favourite in a tight betting heat, but stumbled from the traps and was crowded at the first bend as Bubbly Turbo broke well alongside Ballymac Brogan. Droopys Roddick was involved in early skirmishes, forcing California and Old Joe Golden to take a wide course. Bubbly led after the first and maintained a length lead to the line from Ballymac Brogan, while Droopys prevailed by a head from Lenson Sanchez.
